Itinerary
You will be greeted by our guide who will collect you from your hotel in Kisoro, near
Mgahinga National Park, and transport you to Mgahinga National Park. Report to the
park offices for a brief orientation, then proceed to the gorilla trekking expedition. This
gorilla trekking excursion is a unique opportunity. The rangers will guide you deep into
the jungle in pursuit of these mountain gorillas. You will traverse the uneven terrain until you encounter these peaceful creatures, which you will observe for one hour. The duration of the action in Uganda may range from 3 to 7 hours, depending on gorilla movement. Upon locating the gorillas, you will have one hour to see their playful interactions, nurturing behaviors towards their offspring, and lifestyle, while also enjoying your packed lunch and capturing wonderful photographs for future recollection. Upon returning to the park headquarters, rendezvous with your safari driver. You will then reunite with your driver guide and return to your accommodation in Kisoro or Rwanda.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
The peak gorilla trekking seasons are the dry months from June to September and December to February, which offer ideal trekking conditions. However, permits are easier to acquire and somtimes cheaper during the wet months of March to May and October to November.

Yes. Only 8 people are alowed to visit a gorilla family per day, and gorilla permits are always on high demand, mostly in the peak dry seasons.
The gorilla trek can take anywhere between 30 minutes and 8 hours depending on the movement and location of your assigned gorilla family. Once you find the gorilla family, you will spend 1 hour observing their behavior and possibly interacting with them.
Bwindi always has large numbers of visitors all year round and gorilla permits are in high demand. It has more Gorilla Trekking sectors (Rushaga, Ruhija and Nkuringo) making it able to accomodate organize multiple gorilla treks per day.
Mgahinga National Park offers a more intimate gorilla trekking experience. Only 8 people are allowed to visit Nyakagezi Gorilla Family per day. For people who want a quick but satisfying Gorilla Trekking Safari, travelling from Kigali International Airport to Kisoro is just a 3 hour drive.
